We shoot around Notre-Dame Cathedral & Central Post Office with their European bones, Nguyen Hue Walking Street for crowds and motion, District 1 alleys & cafés for intimate colour, Thu Thiem riverside for clean modern skyline shots, and views from Landmark 81 if you want height and horizon. Saigon moves fast and the light hits differently—warmer, moodier at dusk.

Hoi An is photographic in a different way: the whole Ancient Town is yellow-walled and lantern-lit, the Japanese Covered Bridge is postcard-perfect, Thu Bon River catches lantern reflections at night, and Tra Que vegetable village feels removed from the tourist core. The town is built for soft light and mood. It's slower than the cities, more deliberate. Our team travels there by appointment since we don't have a permanent studio base—just message us and we'll arrange it.

Wear what feels like you. If you're coming to Vietnam for the light and the streets, your own clothes are often the best choice—something comfortable you'd actually walk in, that photographs well and feels true. Avoid solid white or black if you can (they can blow out or merge into shadows), and think about layers since Vietnam's humidity and air conditioning clash. Colours that work: jewel tones, warm earth tones, pastels, muted prints. Fabrics that move—linens, cottons, soft silks—photograph better than stiff synthetics.

If you want to wear an ao dai, we have them in every size and will do your makeup and hair in your hotel room so you step out already styled. The ao dai feels ceremonial without being costume, and it photographs gorgeously in temple light and by water. Some guests do a mix: ao dai for the first part of the shoot, then change into their own clothes for café scenes or evening streets.

About posing: most people say they hate standing still for a camera. That's normal. The trick is that the photographer isn't asking you to pose like a statue—they're asking you to walk, to look at something, to sit on a step and think about your trip, to turn and laugh at something they said. Movement and genuine moments read better than stiffness. If you're unsure what to do with your hands, the photographer will tell you. If you hate your smile, we'll get you candid. Light is everything in photography, and Vietnam's light is generous but honest. Golden hour—early morning or late afternoon into dusk—is when colours sing and shadows are flattering. If you're flexible on timing, shoot early (6am to 8am) or late (4pm to 7pm depending on the season). Midday sun is harsh and flattening, though temple courtyards and shaded streets can work because they have natural diffusion.

Vietnam's seasons matter. Hanoi and Saigon are hottest and most humid from April to September; the light is still beautiful but you'll feel it. October through March is cooler and clearer—this is when most travellers visit and when light is most predictable. Hoi An stays warm year-round but feels more magical in the dry months (roughly October to April) when the river reflects lanterns without haze. December and January are ideal if you can choose: cooler, clear skies, soft light.

Rain happens, especially in summer and monsoon season. If it rains, we'll work with you to reschedule or adapt—some of the most atmospheric shots happen in wet streets with reflections, but we won't push a shoot if the light is genuinely dead or you're uncomfortable.
